Chinese fishing boats in Philippine waters, might this be strike three for China and the Philippines? The two nations again tangled over fishing ships. The Chinese government demanded that the Philippine authorities give back the fishing boats that the latter seized from the former. Why? Because the Chinese fishing boats were supposedly in Philippine territorial waters, but strangely enough, of the China Sea. Well, it could be the China Sea however it is a body of water all over Southeast Asia so it may be a part of the Philippine territorial waters.

However the Chinese authorities disagreed. According to Chinese authorities, Chinese fishermen have been often visiting the challenged area for generations. The Chinese have been rowing their fishing ships in that territory because it is a traditional angling ground. It is a shame.
The two nations are also tangling over the Spratly Island because surrounding the isle is said to be an excellent haven for doing some fishing. I ought to say that it is because while the Spratly Island is inhabited by a small number of individuals, it is yet to be declared to be possessed by one nation. It has no owner, I should say and at least 4 nations are battling for it including China and the Philippines.

Spratly Island is reportedly sought after because of its richness in oil and mineral deposits. But locals of the Island will tell you to bring your fishing ships to the region because it is also plentiful in marine resources.

This is the first strike between strained relations between the Philippines and China. The 2nd strike was when a police officer got a bit insane and took a bus full of Manilla residents hostage. Numerous individuals were murdered on that day. Horrible, terrible day for the Chinese.

Nevertheless, for the occupants of Spratly Island, it’s not bad for the Filipinos and Chinese in the region. They have resided as neighbors for a number of years and they are 1 community. It is a shame that this has to be strained by fishing ships. Those fishing boats might have been very good looking or just plain good for the business of catching fish.

It is said that the Chinese ships were seized while the Philippine boat was cruising the questioned water area when the larger Philippine ship hit a dinghy being pulled behind by one of the Chinese boats. This alerted Philippine officials on-board and made the necessary procedures returning the fishermen to their home nation but leaving behind the precious fishing ships that mean livelihood.
