Children are just obsessed with flying and love everything that flies-kites, Superman and birds. This is the reason why I am now obsessed with bird feeders, though I wouldn't expect Superman to drop by.

Bird feeders are also attractive, they come in different shapes and sizes and can be ornamental to the garden, save for the sh** that comes with the birds. I want to tell you how to make a bird feeder so that you and your children can have some wonderful bonding experience.

There are different ways and tools to make a bird feeder. The most popular bird feeder, and also the simplest to make is the cone feeder. What you do is get a pine cone and in its slits, you put in peanut butter and bird seeds. Tie a string atop the cone and hang them on the windows. Your children and also you can stand by the window and wait for the birds to come by.

Using a milk carton is another way of making a bird feeder. How to make a bird feeder this way: What you do is cut a portion of the carton and staple the top area. Punch a hole on the top and put a string through it so that it can be hanged on the garden through a tree or any plant. To be more creative about it, you and your kid can paint the carton to resemble a part of the tree or plant so that it would camouflage easily, though, this is not necessary. What you do lastly is to put the bird seeds in the holes and wait for the birds to come by. That's it.

But my favorite is the breakfast feeder. Just get some cookies, put holes into them for the strings, brush melted margarine over them and sprinkle the bird seeds. Tie the strings on trees and plants. The problem with this feeder is that it attracts not only the birds but all kinds of cookie-loving animals including humans.

It is not easy to select the best bird feeder if you plan to purchase one because of the many variations that you can choose from. This can however be a bonding activity with your children as you can tag them along with you and let them choose the bird feeder that they like. If they choose one that is out of your style, or perhaps not in sync with the design of your home, just let your children look for another one explaining why it wont do. However if you select a bird feeder on your own, your children will always like it.

The cutest I've seen so far is a bitten apple and you place the seeds inside, it will give the impression that the bird is pecking the apple; you might want to take a picture of this epic moment though. One more design that attracted me is the feeder that has many bird figurines, whenever a lonely bird comes by, it would never feel alone.
